VIN licenses are purchased for US$99 each. EFILive does not operate on a 'credits' system

Well the only advantage really is that you have the opportunity to save some $$$. As you need at least one VIN licenses the upfront cost (assuming sale price of $450) is actually going to be $549. The FlashScan V2 new comes with 2 VIN licenses so to get the same number of available licenses as a new unit would cost $648. So you're still saving something over the cost of a new unit.

On the down side you will have a shorter warranty period (warranty period is one year from date of purchase). Also obviously check the condition of the unit etc.

At the end of the day $150 is $150 difference. And if you can assure yourself it's in good conditions etc then it's still a good option if you wanna save the extra $$$.

A V2 is $799 last time I checked...so if you can get a used one in decent shape for $450 and buy a license, thats $549 so $250 saved...
