how to lock in new idle speed?

Hi,

So I've entered the scan menu and F7 DVT menu where I've found how to raise the idle speed and I click on the check box to theoretically lock in the new idle setting. Is this correct?

I've noticed when I come out of the menu the revs drop slightly. Thanks.

DVT controls are temporary. Are you looking to permanently change the idle speed? If so, you'll need to adjust it in your tune and flash that to your ECM.

Oh, thanks. I bought efi Live to make simple adjustments like this. The idle's to low and I wanted to raise it to just over 700 rpm's.

Yeah, you're going to need to read your tune, make the change and flash the modified tune back in.

I always suggest that after the original tune is read, make a zip backup of it so you always have your ORIGINAL that can't be accidentally modified should you need to go back to it.

This is really frustrating. First I bought the scan tool to read codes but it's pretty limited compared to my other code reader which actually translates codes. Then I bought the flashscan to do basic changes and now it looks like I need the full tune package? Flipping expensive way to wind up the idle a notch if that's the case. Thanks for your input :-)

So, I'm back on the case after the car's been laid up all winter :-) I've found the idle warm up settings and entered higher values, 750 rpm's across all the temperature ranges. Hopefully this will take me in the right direction. My next daft question is how do I upload the data to the pcm and do I need to keep the same file name? Presumably it overwrites the pcm file. Thanks in advance.
