So the 4L80e and the 4L60e since about 95 have had this PWM valve that lets the TCC be partially locked.

I don't really like it. I don't like the way slipping clutch feels, I think most of you guys probably share that opinion.

Now the 4l60e can be fitted with a retrofit valve from the pre-1996 trucks to make lockup a either locked or unlocked, not locked, unlocked, and kind-of-locked.

In this way lockup feels like shift unto itself.

There is no valve like that for the 80e, there's a spring that can be replaced with a softer spring in the PWM valve that makes it firmer but that's about it as far as I'm aware.

I'm planning on getting a custom tune for my truck, an 01 with the 4L80e, I think I might want to have that, or at least have my PCM tuned so that it acts more like that.

Anyone ever tried this? Is it feasible? Is there any advantage or disadvantage to it?
