Been working with a customer with a very interesting setup he swapped his 2010 Silverado 5.3L with a 4BT Cummins motor paired with a 2011 up gen 4 Allison. Truck was done right he kept the stock ECM and mated it with a 2001 up T14 Allison controller. He reached out to me after a few months of tinkering his own file. He wanted a smoother more like stock feel annd operation that's where I came in I worked with him and the result is a like stock feel and operation. I set the E38 ECM up to communicate with the Allison and function like stock. You can run a Allison controller standalone but the issue is the throttle position goes into a default mode and attempt to find the most reliable source most of the time a CAT PWM, Stock Cummins TPS, or Allison OEM TPS (Best Option Not Cheep). With the combination of E38 ECM & the Allison T14 the pedal input is flawless and properly in line with the 0 to 100 input / shift points. The Allison itself was mated with a adapter plate using the Cummins to stock Duramax bellhousing it utilizes a multi disc converter for better torque transfer and improved service life. I have now done quite a few different Allison to Cummins swaps a number of ways annd I'm really liking this setup and all it has to offer. We installed a stock Duramax 3 bar map sensor and i programmed it to the ECM for proper live data and vehicle info. All my tables are proprietary and tailored to the swap vehicle. Another cool thig we have all the gauges working and if I'm not mistaken cruise control as well as the trucks TCS system is operational. No dash lights or codes as if truck left the left the assembly line like this. I hope Brian enjoys his build for many years to come he did a awesome job on the build to a factory like look.
I will attach some pics and some logs once I get a chance. If a anyone else decides they need a similar setup or help feel free to reach out I'd be happy to help. I like tuning one of a kind setups I put the time annd effort to make them their best its extremely important to me at YAK Performance.
