What about the radio interface? It isn't normally teh radio, but the interface for the radio that causes the bus to not go quiet to allow the V2 to communicate.

03+ trucks use a radio interface with an aftermarket radio because the factory radio is integrated into the data bus. It needs it to turn the radio on and off, as well as for the factory warning tones to be heard since they use the radio in 03+ trucks for those functions.
