I am doing a 0411 PCM swap on my 99 K2500 Suburban with the 454, using the L31 OS as a base OS/Cal to start with.
With that, can I use any of the custom OS's?
Thanks!

I think you need to use 02020003 custom operating system.
2002 x van tune has the 480 transmission.
If there was a x van that came with a big block I would check out that tune and even use it for your base.
You will need to sort IFR and cylinder size straight up to suit the 454.
One of the first things you will need to do is get the crank relearn done.
If it does not start disable vats and move on.
You can do it! Have fun.
The van did have the 454 as an option, although I haven't seen one personally, I have seen BB vans for sure (only a sicko would wanna work on one....).
What is IFR? Injector size I would presume?
According to Autozone.com, 14% of the 2000 vans got 454's. But likely NOT the 0411 PCM. In 2001 and 2002 they go the 8100 as an option.
What does the 8100 have that the 7400, aka, L29 454 doesn't in the way of crank/cam sensors? My cam sensor is in the distributor, crank sensor is in the front cover (not sure the pulses on it, I'll have to look). Anyone know on the 8100 what they use?
According to what I have found on another site, the 8100 uses a 24x crank sensor and a 1x cam, which I believe is what my 454/7400 uses.
So if that be the case, I could use any 8100 PCM for my 454? Did the 496 change crank/cam sensor resolution in the newer models?
Any PCM or OS advantages of the 1MB PCM's over the 512k? Assuming the 496 OS will work, it would be no problem to go to CNP as long as I leave the distrib in place (which is where my sensor is), or if the 496 has a cam sensor in the block in a distributor hole (does it still have the hole?)?
As long as the van tune has the same ignition as your truck this is what you are after.
You could use the 7.4 base. make sure it has the 480 transmission.
The operating system usally is 1222156 in the 0411 and you will get the custom operating system.
cheers

NODIH,
I can't answer your question, but I am VERY curious about a 24x crank with 1x cam sensor engine. If you find out for sure that this is the case with your engine, even after this thread dies---Please PM me and let me know. I am piecing together the parts for a 557 ci. 4l80e Cadillac engine for my 54 Chevy 5 window pickup. I have already fitted the harmonic balancer with a 24x wheel. I don't have the cam sensor part figured out yet. I WILL be using coil on plug and a 0411 PCM. A 1x cam sensor would be very easy to do, a 2x will be quite a bit more difficult.
Jeff
Will do. The L21 RV engine and Medium Duty truck engine has CNP factory, and uses a different controller than the 0411.
I'll let you know what I find...
Cool--Thank You. Maybe I won't be using a 0411 PCM after all.
0411 is a great PCM to work with.
If you can get the cam/crank sensors you are good to go with it.
I'll dig up anything I can on my cam sensor and let you know. Your swap is something I wanna do with my 400 and 455 Pontiac V8. Maybe even my 301 Turbo V8.
Hmmm....more projects in the works Jeff????
Didn't know you had that one on the go.

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T
MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE
DUCT TAPE.
IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.
