TechII can also cause this issue, we have had a few customers who had a perfectly working ECM that after going to the dealer to be 'updated' comes back locked and VIN data wiped. Very common on 2001's

could very well be? the person whom i bought the truck from did mention he took the truck in for a service and ever since then there was a problom security light always on? but runs fine?

So he never worried about it

im going through tuning withdrawal

I have the same issue that your are having. My pcm vin # is coming up with wierd digits when I scan the pcm. I have also been advised to send my pcm to wait4me to unlock the pcm by redoing the flash chip.

thanks ill keep that in mind,but it is not my issue
it always has the security light on,ill be pulling the motor anyways so ill have time to ship off my ECM
