The Mazda Diesel ECM is in the passenger footwell, it has a steel plate over it with the nuts welded to the bolts! I guess they really don't want you to touch.
The engine actually makes more torque than GM's 3.6L V6 and does it at 1,800RPM, you can feel it being limited by about 3000 RPM yet the read line is at 5,000RPM. I think it has got a lot left in it, but being a FWD I'm not sure it needs more torque.
Knowing all the limiters in the Duramax I am sure this engine would be suffering the same thing, and yes, it has a DPF.
