hey guys, ive been workin on a tune for an 06 k1500 with the max 6.0 in it. ive got the tune working good, but , i cant get pe to enter when i want it. ive been looging it on the dyno,, and it seems that on the third pull it finally goes in. is there something that im missing ?? why wont pe enter as it is commanded ?

Try setting B3609 to zeros.
You need at least 70% throttle to get PE, is TPS indicating better than 70%...?

thanks joe, i tryed that. that didnt help.i am getting to 100% throttle, still,, you have to make 3 pulls til it goes into pe. it does that on the street too. you can feel a differance in the truck when the pe goes in.
i remember reading on the hp forum:angel_innocent: that there was something with the 2006 trucks that prevented them from going into pe to save fuel. i have tuned other years silverados , they never seemed to have a problem getting into pe with a tune like this ??? im stumped.

I can't see anything in the tune file that would prevent it.

Try setting tables B3644, B3645 to about 1.3 or higher and also try lowering B3616 to 50% or lower.......

Are you getting any knock/pinging at WOT? Your B3618 (TO ME) is scary "LEAN"......

Good point, B3644 is zero, I missed that...

thanks guys. i'll give that stuff a try. im not sure i understand how B3644 works, my thinking was that it is the time in secs that the pe transfered in ?? org tune it was .1
i am not getting any pinging at wot. i set B3618 to that value as a test, because when the truck does go into pe, after the 3rd pull,, it was at 10.8 for fuel on the wide band, i tryed to cheat it to go leaner.

ok, i tryed that. it seems to go into pe, but not when it should. why wont it go into pe when the throttle gets past 50 %, it takes like 3 secs or more at wot before it finally goes into pe ?? i know im missing something :bangin:

Have you tried messing around with the Traction Control tables? Also, try disabling the B0701 CatOvertempertature(COT)....When enabled, it richens up the mixture(quite-a-bit) to protect the Cats...especially at WOT!!!!!
Can you post up some Data Logs? Kinda hard to help with no data logs to view........

It just sounds like your real rich at WOT.....10.8 is kinda rich. On my truck at WOT it never goes below 12.0(on my WBO2) with zero knock...:)

gameover,
ive tried to turn off the cot protection, it didnt help,,so i turned it back on. i havent messed with the trac control, the truck doesnt have that option.
and yes, this truck has been bad rich at wot !! im tryin to get some power to the rear wheels, and i know at 10.8 ,its not making what it should.

At 10.8 it never will....you need to find out why it's so rich at WOT. Maybe you need to start with the stock tune file again.....IMHO

It's fairly common for 2006 trucks to not go into PE when expected the first few attempts after a flash. I'm not certain what the problem is or if there is some readiness test that needs to first pass or what, but it can definitely be annoying.

justin,
ive been driving this truck for miles. months. without flashing it. when i got my dyno, i found out about the late pe engagement. ive been beating my head in, trying to figure out why. now i know, from " seat of the pants " why sometimes this truck is impressive, and sometimes a pooch. im lost for an answer ?? :bangin:

fastjim455,
I was looking over your log and I can see sometimes you're at 9.98 AFR

gameover,
i will work on the over rich condition in pe,, as soon as i can get pe to work properly. im reading everything i can on this topic. it seems the 06 truck is a problem child with this condition. i will have some time late today,or sat afternoon, to make some more pulls. im just going to keep playing with pe adjustments til i get it to go in.

fastjim455, try this tune.
The PE settings are based off our local Holden cars which never have an issue going in to PE mode. Also, as was mentioned earlier the cat protection fueling can cause very rich conditions. Rather than switch it off though, raise the threshold temps up a bit (which I did in your file).
Anyway, let us know how this goes.
Cheers,
Ross

Well, I don't think is any unknown PE settings we don't have in the software, so please do report back that it fixes (or doesn't fix) the problem.
Cheers,

well,,i just took a white knuckle ride on some cold snowy roads !! its pretty much does the same thing. i was logging commanded afr, and on the first stab, up to 90 mph, no pe, just 14.68 all the way. i slowed down, stabbed it again, @ 85-90 mph, it just started to go into pe. third try, pretty much went into pe with throttle command. if your just driving this truck down the road, and stab it,,no pe,,you have to beat up on it alittle,,then it goes in,, you can feel the differance by the seat of your pants when pe works. the stock tune works the same way. this is the only truck ive had problems with, it also might be the only 06 half ton that ive noticed this on.

I've noticed this also.....Sometimes the truck has to be driven for a while before you feel the difference...."AFTER A FLASH" :nixweiss:
